I’ve had many blogs before. Xanga was the first. (blogging was all you could do on that), and I used Myspace blogs every now and again. More recently, I had a private blog that I posted on maybe once every three months (or less). No need to concern anyone with that one. I made a Tumblr a couple of weeks ago, but I disliked the lack of feedback from readers. I enjoy Twitter a lot, but it doesn’t give opportunity to say more than 140 characters at a time.

So here’s another, more public attempt.

College is wonderful. All music classes except for Calculus and History. Doing well (As and Bs) in all of them, so that’s great. Semester’s just about over, though; one week left of classes before finals! I’m ready for the semester to be over so that I can go home and spend time with my family, including my cat! I miss them all so much, and, since I haven’t been home for more than four days at a time since August, a break will be welcome.

What break, you ask? CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! I love this time of year. The cooler weather, the cheery moods, the music, etc. ESPECIALLY the music! I love Christmas music so much and have been listening to it nearly nonstop since Thanksgiving. It’s wonderful.

Of course, my break is being cut a bit short. I auditioned for a musical being put on by a local Methodist church, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (I grew up loving this musical), and was cast as an inventor and as a dancer (I fooled them into thinking I could dance!). Rehearsal picks up on January 2, so I’m being cut short on an extra 8 days with my family, but at least I’ll have the 15-17 days previous to spend with them (not counting days spent at a possible bowl game with Goin’ Band).

Goin’ Band is fun, but it’s no Poteet; of course, I didn’t expect it to be. I’m really missing the competitive aspect of marching band though. I think that’s why I’m looking forward to the end of this marching season. At least there’s a sort of variety given to us, since we learned a new marching show every two weeks on average.

I also really enjoyed voice lessons this semester. I signed up on a whim a day into classes, and there’s been nothing but benefits. My voice is definitely improving (and, according to my lesson teacher, it’s raising in pitch too; he expects me to be a tenor before long!). He’s been very impressed, and expects the vocal department to try and recruit me in the vocal program once they hear me. Ha. It’s been an awesome experience, and I’m hoping to be in a choir next semester. We’ll see how that goes.

I’ve been playing Quidditch with Tech’s team almost every week. It’s been a blast. Made a couple of solid friends from it, as well as gotten some form of physical exercise. I’m definitely ready for the spring when we finally play some other schools in tournaments and such. Awesome stuff!

I bought a mug tonight. I really like it. It’s super classy looking.

Keepin' it classy.

Drank some hot chocolate and some milk from it tonight, and I’m probably gonna always use it to drink stuff now just because I feel classy when I use it. Rockin.

Nothing happening on the relationship side of things. Of course, I always keep an eye out, but finding a girlfriend isn’t my focus at the moment. If a good, Christian girl comes along and she expresses interest, we’ll see where things take us. But we all know me: I’m terrible at initiating things like that. So who knows what’ll happen? I’m not worried.

Now that homework has chilled down a bit, I’ve gotten into the habit of taking at least an hour nap every day, giving me the boost to stay up a little later than normal and wake up fine in the morning without feeling too tired. It’s a great thing that I’m really starting to enjoy. I had forgotten how great a nap in the afternoon can be. Good stuff.

Living with Andrew is still just peachy. We never argue or fight (knock on wood! I don’t wanna start now). In fact, we get along splendidly with each other. It’s been perfect. Most nights we eat some form of dinner together, whether it involves Chef Boyardee and EasyMac in the room or a quick trip to Cici’s or Rosa’s. And we watch movies a lot. Netflix is a blessing; we’ve also been watching through the entire Family Guy series. Funny stuff. But yeah, living with each other has been better than I had imagined, and hopefully it’ll continue this way throughout our time at Tech.

I wish I were a writer. I want to write a book. Sure, I can write an occasional lame poem or a well-written essay, but I can’t come up with a story; I also think that writing an autobiography would be really cool. Sometimes I read articles in the Tech newspaper, the Daily Toreador (usually the “Opinions” section), and consider trying to write for the paper myself. It just seems like I’d really enjoy it.

I also wish I could write music well. Being a composer would be awesome. But again, my problem is that I can’t ever come up with a theme/melody to build anything off of. Maybe eventually I’ll be able to compose something worth listening to, whether for band or choir.

I’ve always said I never wanted to be anything but a high school band director (since 8th grade, anyway), but I suppose a secret dream job would be to compose for films like John Williams does, or even to play in the orchestras that record film music for use in the film and for the soundtrack. Film scores remain one of my favorite genres of music, and to be a part of that process in any capacity would be wonderful.

Or to be a singer: that would be cool. To write songs, perform them, record then, have people buy my CDs and enjoy my music. To tour the world, sing for people, sign autographs, etc. What an experience!

I even have my moments when I wish I was an actor. One thing you may not know about me is that I an a huge self-proclaimed movie buff. I love watching movies, learning about the behind-the-scenes stuff, special features, etc. To be one of the people on the big screen would be fantastic. Even to be a Broadway/singer actor would be wonderful.

Anyway, enough wishful thinking. It’s time for bed. Goodnight, world. Hopefully I’ll update this thing quite often. We’ll see.
